Golden Hibiscus
Detail of "Golden Hibiscus"
Oil 16” x 20”
Date:1996, Location: Artist\'s collection
This painting is in the impressionistic style, using vibrant colours and strong brushstrokes. The work features a single flower that takes up practically the entire canvas. The flower is painted in vivid yellows with some red and orange, and is set against a background of green and white.

Statement

My paintings are based on realism, but what I really try to capture and convey is a mood, a feeling, an atmosphere. Each time I begin a painting, I ask myself what I can bring to this work form within myself that will make the painting special to me and hopefully to those who view it.

I enjoy being adventurous, especially in the use of colour. Creativity is something we are all born with, and the process of creating something good and wonderful makes me feel most fulfilled as a human being.
